La Maison

KATASI. It is my second name — my father's mother's name. A way of carrying something intimate in every piece.

On my mother's side, on my father's side — both my grandmothers sewed. Something of their hands must have stayed.

From a very young age, I knew I wanted to create my own brand. That dream led me to fashion school in Lausanne, three years learning the foundations of the craft. But the real school was fashion itself.

I didn't have the means to enrol at a prestigious school in Paris, London or Milan. So I chose another path: modelling. Not as an end in itself, but as an education. Through every collection I wore, every atelier I visited, every encounter with designers, creative directors and artisans — I was learning. Watching. Understanding how a piece lives on a body, why the right drape changes everything, what separates a noble fabric from an ordinary one.

China, Switzerland, Italy. Covid brought me to a standstill here — and it is in this country, where I still work today, that KATASI began to take shape. I chose Italy because Italy chose me: their expertise in clothing, shoes and accessories is unrivalled. Being here, working here, having pieces made here — it is one of the greatest opportunities I could ever have had.

KATASI has no target customer. These pieces are for everyone — as long as they share the same vision. The vision of keeping a garment for a long time. A very long time. I would like a KATASI piece to come out of a wardrobe in ten, twenty, fifty years, and still make the same impression as the very first day.
